Meal Plans

- Any meals that are crossed out (like this) are meals we planned for but did not end up making. Generally, they are put into the next planning session, since we should already have all the items needed on hand.

- Our shopping trips (and the start of our "weeks") are Tuesdays, thanks to hubby's whacky work schedule!

- You will notice that when we find a recipe that my husband likes, it shows up over & over.  That's just how he works and as long as he's loving what I'm cooking - you will hear no complaints from me!

Month 1
Shopping Trip #1: August 21
Week #1: August 21 - August 27

  • General Tso's Chicken
  • Philly Cheesesteaks w/homemade fries
  • Sloppy Joe's w/ salad
  • Grilled steaks & portabellas
  • ** No Meal ** (we attended a wedding that served dinner)
  • Broccoli Cheddar Soup w/ rolls
  • Chicken Marsala, w/ roasted potatoes and peas
Week #2: August 28 - September 3
***** Hubby ended up working a couple of night shifts this week, so the baby & I ended up having leftovers for dinner, rather than making new meals.
  • Cheeseburgers w/ salad
  • BBQ Pulled Pork w/ salad
  • Chicken Cordon Bleu w/ asparagus & rice
  • Sausage & Spinach soup
  • Mexican Pizza
  • Chicken Parm. Casserole w/ salad or spinach
  • Chicken & Dumplings

Shopping Trip #2: September 4
Week #3: September 4 - September 10
***** My parents were up this week & we either ate at their place or went out to eat with them a couple of times.  Since we're not used to eating out so much, we would end up being so full from eating out (lunch) that for dinner we would have either cereal or PB&J!

  • ** No Meal ** (Hubby is out of town for the night)

Week #1: September 18 - September 24

  • Cheeseburger Casserole
  • Tacos
  • BBQ Pulled Pork ("game night" at our house w/ company)
  • FISH!  (This is the ONE item I will plan for and will not buy until the day of, or the day before. We live on coast of Maine and there is no reason for us to be buying frozen fish from a chain grocery store. We go fresh fish - all the way!)
Week #2: September 25 - September 31
  • Chicken Marsala (Hubby's Birthday - so he picks the meal!)
  • Chicken Enchilada Soup
  • ** No Meal ** (Hubby will be out of town)
  • Homemade Calzones
  • Mac & Cheese w/ ham
  • ?? We had no meal planned ?? and my in-laws ended up ordering Chinese and inviting us over.

Shopping Trip #4: October 1
Week #3: October 1 - October 7
  • Homemade Pizza 
  • Chicken Chef Salad 
  • ** No Meal ** (Weekly meal @ our church)
  • Chili & Cornbread
  • Italian Chicken, Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans
  • Mac & Cheese, Ham Steak & Peas
  • Chicken Crescent Roll Casserole
Week #4: October 8 - October 14
  • Turkey Taco Soup
  • Chop Suey
  • ** No Meal ** (Weekly meal @ our church)
  • Chicken & Asparagus Penne
  • Shrimp & Ravioli Alfredo
  • Enchilada Soup
  • More Homemade Pizza?? (We have to use up all the stuff before it goes bad, and we LOVE pizza at our house!)
